COVID-19 Policies for our 2020 Summer Art Programs

The Paper Mouse team is excited to welcome students back for our 2020 Summer Art Programs! In response to COVID-19, we will be instituting a number of new policies and precautions for the safety of our students and staff. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we adjust to these new circumstances, and we look forward to a summer of creative fun!

Safety Measures

For the safety of our students and staff, we will be capping program attendance at 8 students and 2 staff members.

Our classroom space will be set up to promote social distancing as much as possible, but due to the smallness of our classroom, we ask that students and staff wear face coverings at all times inside the classroom space. Parents should provide a clean mask and a backup mask for their child each day. For this reason, there will be no snack time during the morning, though we will designate a space for water breaks to encourage students to stay hydrated.

Classroom surfaces and art materials will be thoroughly cleaned after each day’s activities. Each student will be assigned personal art materials to use each day. Staff will wear gloves while cleaning, screening and providing students one-on-one help.

Staff will review safety steps like handwashing, social distancing, and wearing masks with students each day.

For the safety of our students and staff, we ask that parents do not enter the classroom space. At pickup time, please knock on the front door of the classroom.

Daily Screening

In accordance with Massachusetts guidelines for child care and recreational programs, we are required to screen students each day by asking parents and children a series of health questions and requiring a signed statement from a parent regarding students’ health. Students must pass the screening before they may enter the classroom space.

We will be setting up a private screening area in the rear of our building. All students must pass through the screening area before entering the classroom. Parents must accompany their child through the screening process.

To get to the back of our building, parents can follow directions for L’Aroma Cafe at 15 Spencer Street. The Paper Mouse is located across the parking lot (we’ll have a sign outside to guide you).
