Spotlight: Bellroy

Australian startup Bellroy was launched in 2010 by a team of product designers and engineers who were passionate about carry—their word for bags, wallets, cases, luggage, and all those items we use to carry our things. 

They started with a line of slim wallets designed to reduce bulk. Full of hidden pockets, handy pull tabs, and other clever features, their wallets are all about ease of use. Throughout the years they’ve created a variety of designs for people to carry different combinations of cards and cash, from traditional wallets that can hold a little bit of everything to minimalist sleeves for those who like to carry just a few cards, all while maintaining their slim profile. In recent years Bellroy has also started producing other types of carry: backpacks, phone cases, key covers, laptop sleeves, and more.

We love Bellroy not just for their beautiful and functional designs, but also for their approach to business as a force for good in the world. In 2015 they became a certified B Corp, working towards better social and environmental practices in their business. They focus particularly on environmental impact in the materials they use, sourcing leather from gold-rated tanneries that meet strict standards for environmental factors and working conditions, pushing for better animal welfare standards and more transparency in the leather industry, and sourcing textiles woven from recycled plastic. 

The Paper Mouse first started carrying Bellroy back in 2016 after they impressed us at a trade show, and we’ve found they have a loyal following thanks to their high quality and smart design. In fact, several of our team members now carry Bellroy wallets! (Jenny, Victor, and Yulan use the Note Sleeve, Slim Sleeve, and Hide and Seek wallets, respectively.) We all love their quality, slim designs, and clever features, and we appreciate their commitment to sustainable production.
