Born and raised in Chicago, IL, artist Rayna Lo wanted to connect more to her Taiwanese heritage. She picked up calligraphy as a way to practice reading and writing to stay connected to her culture. Through this art form, she is processing her personal experiences on what being Taiwanese American means to her. Through studying traditional Chinese calligraphy and illustration through westernized lenses, she bridges traditional Asian and contemporary art. Before embracing herself as an artist, she worked in the pharmaceutical industry for 10+ years. Rayna is now a full-time artist living in Greater Boston, MA.
In accordance with the current mask mandate in Newton, all participants should wear a mask to this workshop.
