To celebrate National Letter Writing Month, The Paper Mouse joined forces with Type Bar for a special evening of manual typewriters and vintage stationery.
Type Bar engages guests to create hand-typed letters to be mailed anywhere in the world, using vintage manual typewriters, stationery and postage. Their events underscore the importance of slow communication, helping to stop time and allow participants to share messages that may not otherwise be communicated. Find out more at www.thetypebar.com
Letter Writing Night is a free public meet-up where friends and neighbors get together to write letters, drink tea and indulge their fascination with stationery and pens. Guests can bring their favorite writing materials or use the ones we provide, and meet others in the neighborhood that share their love of snail mail.

In celebration of the Newton Festival of the Arts in May 2019, we collaborated with the West Newton Cinema to throw a 1920’s party and silent film soiree!
At The Paper Mouse Atelier we hosted a Roaring 20’s party, complete with big band music, refreshments and a photo booth. Guests crafted their own fascinators, masquerade masks and moustaches; typed notes on our typewriter; and tested their chops with some 1920s trivia.
Afterward, the West Newton Cinema played a series of classic silent films by Charlie Chaplin ("The Cure" and "The Immigrant") and Buster Keaton ("Sherlock, Jr."), accompanied by world-class Canadian pianist Bruce Vogt, an enthusiastic champion of the great films of the silent era who has improvised accompaniments for and lectured on films by Chaplin, Keaton, Lloyd, Griffith, Murnau and others.
